MEET DOROTHY HUNTER--Volunteer
Extraordinaire
Dorothy is our longest serving volunteer.
In September of 1997, Dorothy, Lois and her mother (our founding members)
were at the original site of the recently vacated Humane Society. Dorothy said that
they were a pitiful sight as they worked on their hands and knees chipping
up cracked and broken linoleum. Even though she considers herself a "dog
person," her love of all animals prompted her to rollup her sleeves and
join in what was to become the fledgling Cat Protection Society. A nurse by
profession, hard work and dedication came naturally to her and almost 11
years later, she still volunteers at the Shelter and sits on the Board of
Directors.
After all these years at the Shelter, she
has almost turned her into a total "cat person" but when some cruel person
tied "Precious," a pregnant and starving black lab to the Shelter gate
almost seven years ago, Dorothy took her home. Precious is the best dog
she's ever owned and of course, the smartest
dog in the universe! Come visit the shelter on Mondays and meet Dorothy--a
nicer person will be hard to find! |
